Alan Williams, an English & Cultural Studies graduate student at the University of Washington, was announced last week as winner of the All Nippon Airways Essay Contest 2016. The contest was sponsored by ANA as part of the Japan-America Society of the State of Washington’s “Update on Japan: Japan’s Role in the Future of Asia” event on March 31.
Williams titled his essay “Japan Can Halt the Threat of Sino-US (Cold) War” to discuss “the implications of the current trend towards U.S. isolationism and shrinking military presence in Asia.”
He won two round-trip ANA tickets from Seattle to Tokyo. His essay can be read at
Elissa Lee, an undergraduate student at the University of Washington, was chosen as runner-up.
３月31日にワ州日米協会による講演会「Update on Japan: Japan’s Role in the Future of Asia」の一環で行われたＡＮＡ後援のエッセイコンテストで、ワシントン大学で英語、文化研究の修士を学ぶアラン・ウイリアムスさんが優勝。ＡＮＡ社によるシアトル―成田間往復チケット２枚を受け取った。日米中を含めたアジア圏における考えをまとめたエッセイは、ワ州日米協会ウェブサイト（www.jassw.org）で読むことができる。
